The countdown to another spectacular season of world-class racing at Meydan Racecourse has begun, with Dubai Racing Club announcing the dates for the 2026-27 Dubai Racing Carnival and the 31st running of the Dubai World Cup.
The Dubai Racing Carnival will commence on Friday, 6 November 2026 and conclude on Friday, 12 March 2027, before attention turns to the 31st Dubai World Cup on Saturday, 27 March 2027 – one of the most prestigious and richly rewarded race days in international sport.
A total of 17 race meetings will light up Meydan Racecourse throughout the season, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for Thoroughbred racing and international competition.
Magnitude, ridden by Jose Ortiz, pulled ahead and held on to beat Forever Young to win the last edition of the Dubai World Cup held on March 28.
Winchell Thoroughbreds’ Magnitude denied second-placed Forever Young the opportunity to simultaneously hold dirt racing’s three biggest all-age prizes, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic and the Saudi Cup.
Following the success of recent seasons, all races throughout the Dubai Racing Carnival will once again be open to international participants, continuing to attract horses, trainers and jockeys from around the world.
Last season’s Carnival welcomed 47 international trainers from 10 racing jurisdictions, including the UK, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Spain, Oman and Scandinavia. In total, 130 overseas-trained horses raced at Meydan, accounting for more than 20% of all runners throughout the season.
Winners came from five different countries – the highest number in the 22-year history of the Dubai Racing Carnival – underlining the increasingly international nature of the competition.
Anchoring the season once again, three flagship meetings will provide key milestones on the road to Dubai World Cup night: Festive Friday – December 18, 2026, Fashion Friday – January 22, 2027, Emirates Super Saturday – February 27, 2027
Emirates Super Saturday remains the traditional final stepping stone towards Dubai World Cup night, offering a glimpse of the stars set to compete on racing’s biggest stage just weeks later.
The 31st running of the Dubai World Cup will see many of the world’s leading horses, trainers and jockeys compete for a share of US$30.5 million in prize money, as Meydan once again welcomes the global racing community for one of the world’s most anticipated racing events and a centrepiece of Dubai’s sporting calendar.
Sheikh Rashed Bin Dalmook Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Racing Club, said:
“The Dubai Racing Carnival and Dubai World Cup continue to attract the very best horses, trainers and jockeys from around the world, reinforcing Dubai’s position at the heart of international racing.”
“The success of the 30th Dubai World Cup earlier this year demonstrated the strength and global appeal of our racing programme, and we look forward to building on that momentum throughout the 2026-27 season.”
“Thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Carnival continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as one of the world’s premier sporting destinations and a meeting place for the international Thoroughbred community, racing fans and visitors from around the globe.”
