In spite the state of the pandemic, the Olympics scheduled for summer will go ahead, said the Tokyo 2020 president Yoshiro Mori on Tuesday.
Japan’s government and Olympic organisers are working on gaining support for the Games that is less than six months from opening.
Surge in coronavirus cases worldwide and various countries imposing lockdowns has created doubts about the Olympic.

Although a large part of Japan is currently under a virus state of emergency, the Olympic president seemed confident in his note.
"We must go beyond discussion about whether we will hold it or not. It's about how we will do it. Let's think about a new kind of Olympics on this occasion," Mori said.
The comments came hours before Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is expected to announce a month-long extension of the state of emergency -- meaning the measure will run until March 7 in Tokyo and several other parts of the country.
