In this busy world we live in, the majority of us are overwhelmed and stressed out. This week we are taking a look at the concept of essentialism and how having and doing less can lead to a stress-free, more peaceful life.
Essentialism is basically about prioritising what is important to us and cutting out distractions that do not serve us. While it may seem easier said than done, one should take the time to evaluate what is important to them and which areas of their life they can “declutter.” This decluttering not only means having less stuff but also doing less things that are unimportant to our true values.
According to mindfulness experts, when we fill our time with doing things without “spacious attention,” we can become lost in the act of always keeping busy as a distraction. Taking a step back and analysing our lives is a must in the pursuit of peace. Experts also recommend the 90/10 rule which “is a decision-making framework whereby you evaluate and then score any decision (or item) according to its importance to you at that time.”
Keeping with the minimalist theme, turn to our Fitness pages to read about how to get fit with just a kettle bell. According to personal trainer Amanda Capritto, who specialises in training with minimal equipment, you can achieve great full- body results using only a kettle bell. This method is particularly useful for someone who wants to workout at home or while travelling.
