There are many factors which come together to make a movie good and successful including the plot and of course the actors. This week we are taking a look at what happens when there’s a great performance in a not-so-great movie.

Marvel Cinematic Universe has released so many movies over the years and not all of them have been good. In 2021 “Black Widow” came out to mixed reviews. Critics were not impressed and neither were audiences it seems. However, in the midst of the poor plot and messy scenes, actress Florence Pugh was busy giving a stellar performance. Pugh was praised for her role as the Russian spy and assasin Yelena Belova.

In 2013 director Baz Luhrmann brought out an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel “The Great Gatsby.” With an ensemble cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, this movie should have been a big hit, but it wasn’t. One good thing about it though was DiCaprio’s performace as Gatsby. He did a fantastic job depicting the character and earned praised from fans and critics alike.

Kristen Stewart has acted in many great films over the last decade. However, in 2015 she starred in the movie “American Ultra” by director Nima Nourizadeh. The film did not have much success with critics saying it did not live up to its potential. Stewart on the other hand was praised for her role in the action comedy which also starred Jesse Eisenberg.
