This is always an interesting time of year when it comes to the world of film. Summer is practically over, and we are moving into the fall mode of all things, including movies. This week we take a look at some of the most exciting films that are due to be released soon, many of which are possible award contenders.

“Blonde” is a movie which will be covering the life of the legendary, original blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe. And no, she won’t be played by Kim Kardashian who had the audacity to wear one of Monroe’s most famous dresses to the MET Gala. Actress Ana de Armas will be starring as Marilyn in this Andrew Dominik adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ novel. I have a feeling this is going to be praised by critics.

Another movie we are waiting for is the psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” which is directed by Olivia Wilde. There’s been a lot of drama surrounding her lately which is how I even came to know of this movie. Any publicity is good publicity, right? The film stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles and centres around their glamourous lives in Palm Springs which then take a dark turn.

“Armageddon Time” by director James Grey earned a seven-minute ovation when it was shown in Cannes earlier this year. It has a strong cast including Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong. The story centres on a friendship between two misfit boys in 1980. The film has already been described as thoughtful and well-made. This one will undoubtedly do well when it comes to award nominations.
