It’s nearly that time of year again, the most exciting time for the world of cinema. We are just around the corner from learning which actors and movies will be nominated for Academy Awards. This week we have movie critic Justin Chang giving us his fantasy nominations.

This year there will be 10 Oscar nominees for best picture. Chang thinks that the movie “Parallel Mothers” should be on that list of nominees. He also thinks that Penelope Cruz, star of the movie, should be nominated for best actress.

“Parallel Mothers” is a film about two mothers who meet at the hospital while they are having their children. The women are polar opposites in every way yet form a strong bond together as they tackle the challenges of motherhood. I plan on watching this one this weekend, it sounds really good.

When it comes to best actor, Oscar Isaac, Simon Hex and Will Smith are on the fantasy list. Will Smith put in a stellar performance in “King Richard,” where he played the father of tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams. Smith has been nominated twice before for best actor in 2002 and 2007. I believe he could be a front runner to not only be nominated, but win the award. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

In other news this week, turn to our Health pages to read about the foods you should and shouldn’t eat before bed. Banana, almonds and honey are some of the foods you should have before going to sleep. I found it very interesting to know that cheese is not a good food to eat before bed. I often eat cheese as a late-night snack. Apparently hard cheese contains high levels of the amino acid tyramine which makes the brain feel more alert.
