The UAE Public Prosecution, through its Criminal Information Centre (Waie) or (awareness), posted an awareness film stressing the seriousness of tax evasion and its detrimental effect on the economy.
The film emphasises that tax evasion is a crime, not a clever act, and is punishable by law.
It also stresses that tax compliance is a legal obligation for all taxable individuals and companies.
Tax compliance is a shared societal responsibility that contributes to protecting the national economy and promoting integrity and transparency.
It was highlighted that Article (25) of Federal Decree-Law No. (28) of 2022 concerning tax procedures stipulates that any individual who deliberately fails to pay taxes or manipulates revenues shall be subject to imprisonment and a fine of no less than the value of the evaded tax and no more than three times that value, or to either of the two.
This initiative is part of the Public Prosecution's efforts to promote compliance with the law, support sustainable development, and protect state assets, thereby establishing a fair and transparent economic environment for all.
