Asian attempts to rape European woman in a sharing flat in Dubai

The Public Prosecution in Dubai referred an Asian, 33, to the Criminal Court on Tuesday over attempting to rape a European woman, 22, in her bedroom.

The Court heard that the victim who lives in a sharing apartment with the accused was surprised by him sneaking into her room and trying to rape her.

The case dates back to last May, when the victim filed a complaint with the police reporting that her neighbour in the flat attempted to rape her in her bedroom.

The victim reported in the prosecution’s interrogation that the accused, her neighbour in the same apartment, took advantage of her absence from her bedroom and sneaked into it. She was surprised by his presence in the room, trying to rape her despite her resistance.

She managed to send a help call via her mobile phone to her boyfriend who lives in the same building to help her.

The victim’s friend testified that he rushed to help his friend when received a help message from her.

When he arrived at her room, he found the accused trying to rape his girlfriend, so he called another young man to help him. The man fled the place, but he was later arrested; the victim had reported the incident to the police.

The accused denied the charge during the interrogation, but the DNA analysis proved his involvement.

The Court ordered continuing his detention on custody of the case.
