UAE riders star in Sharjah Show Jumping C’ship

UAE Mohammed Ghanem Al Hajri takes top spot in the CSI3* Longines Grand Prix qualifier at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.

Emirati riders dominated the second day of the 20th edition of Sharjah International Show Jumping Championship, which is being organised by the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club.

Highlight of the day was the CSI3* Longines Grand Prix qualifier, which was won by UAE’s ace rider Mohammed Ghanem Al Hajri.

Hajri aboard Doklahoma VDL clinched gold medal after finisng on top.

Germany’s David Will saddling Darius de Kezeg Z took second spot while Denmark’s Tina Lund came third aboard Cloi.

Earlier, 48 riders rider’s competed during the CSI3* category event.

The Emirati riders took the top three places. First on the podium was Salem Al Suwaidi. Saddling Diamond Way, he completed the round in 63.74seconds, which was well earned in terms of the best timings and without errors.

The second place went to the Muhammad Al Owais. With Tsunami de Hus, Owais clocked a time of 64.54seconds. Third place went for the Syrian Rider, Yasser Al Sharif, as a result of completing the round in a time of 64.84 seconds.

In the fourth round of competition for junior riders CSIOJ, sponsored by “Al Shira’aa, 42 male and female riders took part, and 18 ended without faults.

The first place went to Eisa Omran Al Owais. Owais aboard Code of Honour took the top honours.

Mayed Ahmad Ahli with Brazoria de Semilly finished second and Paletinian rider Omar Ayman saddling Paprica grabbed the last place on the podium.

In the last event of the day, 24 male and female riders competed in the completion for young horses, which was sponsored by UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.

The round resulted in the win for Danish rider Lund. With Caracho, she defeated four riders who completed the differentiation without faults.

Whereas the second place went to British rider Samuel Hutton, who was riding Duva 38. Sheikh Ali Jmal Nasr Al Nuami finished third under Joep V D Elsakker.

The 20th edition of Sharjah International Show Jumping Championship is being held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Championship comes just a week before the start of the FEI Jumping World Cup - Arab League – His Highness Ruler of Sharjah Cup International Show Jumping Championship, presented by Longines, which is the largest and the highest jumping event being held for the third time in a row in the covered arena at the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club. This championship is the first of its kind at this level in the region and the Middle East in general.

The CSI5* Sharjah Ruler Cup International Show Jumping Championship will take place from Feb.5 to Feb.8.
