Australia will set aside an additional A$100 million ($68 million) to support drought-stricken farmers as continued dry weather threatens business for many growers, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Friday.
For centuries, the Nineveh Plains were the breadbasket of Iraq, with 6,000 square kilometres (2,300 square miles) of arable land, said agriculture ministry spokesman Hamid Al Nayef.
Friday's drought declaration covers parts of southern, central and eastern England including the counties of Devon, Cornwall, Kent and south London, among other places.
