Two sisters in western El Salvador are taking their love of learning to great heights: every day they climb a mountain, then scramble up an olive tree to get a signal to access their online college lessons.
Unable to afford smartphones, and with limited Internet access in remote villages, many students were unable to attend online lessons. So parents turned to the education department, pleading for help.
As schools struggle to keep pupils engaged during the pandemic, a kindergarten on Indonesia's Java island is getting pupils back in the classroom using makeshift transparent cubicles and also sending teachers on home visits with social distancing barriers.
"Our results are important in this context because they show that being able to spend time outdoors under conditions of lockdown has a beneficial impact on psychological well being," said co-lead author Viren Swami, Professor of Social Psychology at Anglia Ruskin University.
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has restrained the prestigious Lawrence School at Sanawar in Kasauli hills, which boasts of alumni like Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, from receiving additional fees for holding virtual classes owing to the pandemic.
"In view of the declining cases of corona, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal approved the proposal," the official, who declined to be identified, said of a suggestion from authorities that the weekend curfew be scrapped.
The KHDA tweeted on Friday, “Because of the help and cooperation of parents, educators and students, PE classes, gatherings, trips and extracurricular activities will be resumed as of Jan.31.”
The Department of Education said some schools would have to split classes up to three shifts a day due to classroom shortages, a longstanding problem, and to avoid overcrowding that could turn schools into new epicenters of coronavirus outbreaks.
As we all know, most of the schools in the UAE have offered online mode of learning as the New Year started, for a couple of weeks. It came as a huge relief for most of the parents. Most of the students had just returned from their vacation and
