The Environment and Protected Areas Authority’s (Epaa) Sharjah Natural History & Botanical Museum launched a five-day geology programme recently. The programme, which will last until Aug 1, is for children of the centres’ members.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) on Saturday launched the Fujairah Cultured Coral Reef Gardens, the largest project of its kind in the UAE, in collaboration with Fujairah Municipality, Dibba Fujairah Municipality and the Fujairah Adventures. In line with the Ministry’s strategy to protect the UAE’s biodiversity and ensure its sustainability, the project is set to include the cultivation of 1.5 million coral reef colonies over the next five years.
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) is taking part in the 11th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival at Expo Centre Sharjah. Launched on April 17 with the theme ‘Explore Knowledge’, the Festival will be held until April 27. In addition to participating in diverse activities and programmes, EPAA will highlight the Children’s Farm and help to promote environmental awareness at its booth. EPAA’s theme at this year’s Festival is ‘Read, Imagine, Draw’.
More than 400 students and staff from 27 schools around the United Arab Emirates, along with representatives from industry and government along with students and faculty members from the American University of Sharjah (AUS), attended the popular annual Environmental Day 2019 held at AUS on April 18. Organised by the university’s Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences, in collaboration with the AUS Office of Enrolment Management, this year’s event theme was “The Energy of Science.”
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, received on Monday an environmental delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, accompanied by Dr Khalid Bin Saeed Bin Salem Al Jaradi, Ambassador of Oman to the UAE.
The 13th Environmental Drawing Competition, organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), was a huge success as more than 162,000 students from 566 schools and 106 student members of the EEG participated in the competition. The annual event concluded with an award ceremony on Sunday.
