Sharjah Police arrested a man on charges of reckless driving a few hours after a video had been posted on social media in which a vehicle appeared performing dangerous movements on the Al Madam Al Shuwaib road, leading to a traffic accident.
Police patrols as well as national ambulance and civil defence teams rushed to the scene of the accident and transported the deceased to the hospital
According to Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of Dubai Traffic Police, the police patrol was on its regular duty when they spotted the reckless driver driving his SUV recklessly.
Official records indicate that the insurance company has filed a lawsuit, demanding that the defendant, the driver, should pay over Dhs524,000 and pay the legal interest of 12% for causing the death and injury of two people while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The field committees are deployed in the various internal and external roads of the emirate, to reinforce the inspection and control tasks, covering remote areas, to control drivers who violate and do not abide by traffic rules.
Violators will be booked in this regard according to the Article (86) of the executive regulations amending the Traffic Law. If the light vehicle does not adhere to the compulsory traffic lane, a fine of Dhs400 will be issued against the motorists.
