As part of its intensified testing campaign, MoHAP announced it conducted 178,528 additional COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours, using state-of-the-art medical testing equipment.
The health ministry data showed that India's total cases now stand at 31.4 million, making it the second-most affected country after the United States. The country now has 411,189 active cases and has witnessed a total of 420,967 deaths so far.
The government said in a statement that the country's total caseload now stands at 31.53 million infections. The COVID-19 death toll rises to 422,662. On Tuesday, India had registered 29,689 new coronavirus cases, less than the 30,000-mark in 132 days, and 415 deaths.
The Ministry stressed on Saturday in a statement that its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
India on Tuesday the surge in inoculations came alongside a sharp decline in daily new infections that fell to 25,166 in the last 24 hours. The last time there were cases close to this number was last year December 22, when around 24,000 cases were reported.
As per the bulletin released by the health ministry the active caseload registered a decline of 2,431 in the past 24 hours, the total active caseload stands at 3,67,415, the lowest in last 148 days.
The Ministry of Health stressed in a statement on Saturday that its aim to continue expanding the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.
Military and security sources said that the army had seized a fuel storage tank hidden by black marketeers and was in the midst of handing out gasoline to residents when the explosion took place.
The country’s recovery rate is 97.36 per cent. However, the active cases constitute 1.30 per cent of the total cases and the active caseload has crossed 400,000-mark again and currently stands at 410,952.
As per the health ministry data the active caseload also registered a decline of 3,286 in past 24 hours, and cumulatively stands at 364,129, the lowest in 149 days. The active caseload constitutes 1.13 per cent of the total cases, the lowest since March 2020.
