The 2026 Baftas showed that awards season can still surprise. Held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, the ceremony brought to- gether some of the biggest names in film for a night filled with glamour, big wins and a few unexpected moments. This week, we’re looking at the main winners as well as some of the best moments of the night.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson’s dark comedy “One Battle After Another” was the big winner of the night taking home six awards in- cluding Best Film. British star Robert Aramayo delivered the biggest surprise after winning Leading Actor for “I Swear” and beating the favourite Timothée Chalamet who was there with Kylie Jenner.
Irish actress Jessie Buckley’s emotional win for “Hamnet” brought heart to the ceremony, while the film also won Outstanding British Film. Host Alan Cumming kept the mood light with running jokes and playful moments that reminded everyone why live awards shows are still fun to watch.
