The end of the year is upon us and with that we get a few last-minute movie releases that are trying to come out before award season starts. This week we are taking a look at some of the best films that are due to be released now and over the next month.
Director Paul Feig is known for his crowd-pleaser features, such as 2018’s “A Simple Favour,” and he seems to have done it again with “The Housemaid.” Based on a bestselling novel by author Freida McFadden, the story centres around a maid who moves in with a wealthy family and ends up in a bit of a mess. Sydney Sweeney plays the maid and Amanda Seyfried plays the role of the boss. Brandon Sklenar also stars as the leading man.
The man of the moment Timothée Chalamet’s latest role took him away from learning how to play the guitar (Bob Dylan) to learning pingpong for his role in Josh Safdie’s biopic which is loosely based on 1958 men’s singles table tennis champion Marty “The Needle” Reisman. Chalamet was coached by former Olympian Wei Wang and word on the Hollywood streets is that his role could be a serious Oscar contender. I think it is only a matter of time before Chalamet does win the ultimate award for his impressive career.
