In the film world, remakes of famous movies are quite common and while not all of them work, some do turn out really well. This week we are taking a look at some of the best remakes of iconic movies including several titles that many might not even realise are remakes.

The film “Nosferatu” was released last year to good reviews from critics and fans alike. The Gothic horror stars Lily Rose Depp in the leading lady role alongside Bill Skarsgård who plays the evil Count Orlok. It might not be common knowledge that this is actully a re- make of a silent film that was released back in 1922 titled “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.” The movie recieved four Oscar nominations for different categories including Best Cinematography.

Back in 2010 the film “True Grit” came out directed by the famous Coen brothers, Joel and Ethan. The brothers apparently wanted the film to be truer to the novel it was based on rather than the 1969 version which starred John Wayne. The Western movie features an ensemble cast including Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon and Hailee Steinfeld. The role was a breakout one for Steinfeld which earned her a Best Supporting Actress nod at the Oscars with Bridges also getting nominated.
