We all know that exercise is good for us, but when it comes to how much we should be doing things get confusing. This week we are taking a look at what the experts are saying about how long we should work-out for and exactly what those workouts should entail.
Firstly, any exercise is better than no exercise and that’s something all the experts agree on. It can be a challenge to fit in a long workout during busy days. The good news is that it has been proven that even simply walking is beneficial. You do not have to stick to a daily 10k step goal. Even a target of 7-8k is good and more achievable especially if you are busy.
When it comes to strength training the benefits are huge. Studies show that lifting weights improves body composition, muscle mass and even brain function. Strength coaches advise aiming for at least two full-body workouts for best results. These sessions do not have to be long and can even be as short as 10 minutes for beginners.
In other news this week, turn to our Music pages to read about the “new” Will Smith. The actor/singer is back with a new album, and hopefully a new attitude. “Based on a True Story” is Smith’s first album in 20 years. The album also features his son Jaden.
