Children

“Confidence is key,” this expression says it all. Confidence really is everything and a very important quality to possess. This week we are taking a look at the subject of confidence in children with expert opinions on the matter of parenting and confidence.

Some children are lucky enough to have natural confidence. This is great and should be nurtured and encouraged. However not all children are the same and of course, that is just fine.

When a child does not have much natural confidence, parenting skills become vital in activating and building up confidence in that child. Our experts explain that not all children will ask for help. So, a parent must be vigilant and vocal when it comes to asking children if they do need help. This help from a parent or trusted loved one will give them a lot of confidence.

Praise is extremely important when it comes to raising a confident child. It is essential that parents notice the good things that children are doing, while opting to ignore the not so good things. Parents need to make a bigger deal about the good things so that the child feels noticed and appreciated.

Another huge aspect of building confidence in children comes down to parents not taking out their stress on a child. If a parent feels stressed, they should try not to show that to children or let it affect the way they deal with their children. The parent should try to deal with the stress away from the children as it can have a negative effect on them and hinder their confidence.
