The nominations are finally in. The 94th Academy Award nominations were announced and out came the movie critics sharing their feelings on the choices. This week we are taking a look at some of the most interesting surprise nominations as well as the snubs.

One of the biggest shocker snubs of the announcements was Jennifer Hudson missing out on a Best Actress nomination for her role in “Respect.” Hudson played the legendary Aretha Franklin in the biopic which received a lot of praise from critics when it was released. The film grossed over $31 million with praise for the performances, the film’s production values and costume design.

Another big snub came in the form of Lady Gaga not being nominated for her role in “House of Gucci.” This one really is a shock. Gaga had been nominated for numerous awards over the past few months and everything looked like the Oscar nomination was in the bag. The movie only picked up one nomination for make-up and hairstyling.

A big surprise on the list is Kristen Stewart’s Best Actress nomination for her role as Princess Diana in “Spencer.” Stewart was not nominated for any major award before the Oscar announcements so it looked like she would miss out on that too. Some critics do think that she deserves the nomination, but others think she does not.
