Abu Dhabi Labour Court of First Instance obligated a company to pay Dhs187,711 in compensation to an employee who had worked for it for 15 years but was dismissed without being paid his dues.
Earlier, the employee filed a lawsuit against his former employer in which he requested the court to order the company to pay him an end-of-service gratuity of Dhs160,921, annual leave pay of Dhs6,152 and additional payments totaling Dhs21,210 in accordance with the attached settlement.
He also requested the court to obligate his employer to pay a 9 per cent interest for late payment and court fees and expenses and to order immediate execution of the judgment.
The employee pleaded that he had worked for the employer in a specific role for a basic salary of Dhs12,000 and a total salary of Dhs18,000 but was dismissed without receiving his dues.
The court stated that the company had previously acknowledged in the issued settlement and its responsive pleading that the employee was entitled to Dhs160,356 for end-of-service gratuity and Dhs6,152 for leave pay but denied the additional claims.
