13-year-old boy battling cancer needs Dhs31,195 for life-saving treatment in UAE

Fate took a challenging turn for 13-year-old Abdulrahim Ahmed when he stumbled while playing with friends; doctors then discovered he was battling bone cancer. This diagnosis turned his family's life into an ongoing nightmare, as the cancer spread to his lungs and brain, making radiation therapy crucial to saving his life. Facing financial hardship, his parents have reached out to readers of "Al Khaleej" and "Gulf Today" newspapers for help in covering treatment costs exceeding Dhs31,000.

According to his mother, the cancer in his left arm was identified after he experienced repeated falls. He began his treatment journey at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain in early 2023, spending eight months there undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, along with surgery to remove the affected area while preserving his arm.

She noted that follow-up scans every six months initially showed a stable condition, by the grace of God. However, he later started experiencing pain in his back, legs, and head; further tests revealed a mass in his lung and two masses in his brain, requiring more surgery.

She explained that the boy now needs radiation therapy costing Dhs31,195—a sum far beyond the family's means, with his father earning a monthly salary of Dhs4,500, making it difficult to cover their living expenses.
