A dispute over chicken pieces at a party allegedly turned deadly after a man was stabbed by his friend in Karnataka’s Belagavi district.
The incident occurred in Hunashyal PG village in Mudalagi taluk, where the victim, identified as Seetharam, was working at Priya Steel Company.
Seetharam, a native of Kabirganj village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, was employed at the company along with the accused, Arun Kumar, who is also from the same village.
According to police, the two men were attending a party when an argument broke out over the amount of chicken each had eaten. What began as a minor disagreement reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation.
Arun Kumar allegedly grabbed a knife during the altercation and stabbed Seetharam in the chest.
Police said the accused subsequently took the injured man to Gokak Government Hospital. However, he allegedly told hospital authorities that Seetharam had fallen from a building, apparently in an attempt to conceal the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
The explanation reportedly raised suspicions, prompting police to question Arun Kumar at the hospital. During questioning, he allegedly admitted to stabbing Seetharam.
Despite receiving medical treatment, Seetharam succumbed to his injuries.
Police have registered a murder case against Arun Kumar and launched a further investigation into the incident.
