Ajman Transport Authority (ATA) signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Autism Society (EAS) to equip a sensory taxi dedicated to serving the autism spectrum disorder category, as part of the ATA's efforts to enhance quality of life and provide innovative transport services which suit the needs of people of determination.
The signing of the agreement was attended by Omar Lootah, Director General of ATA, Fatima Al Matroushi, Vice Chairperson of the EAS' Board of Directors, and Engineer Amal Al Karbi, Director of the EAS.
Under the agreement, the ATA is responsible for providing, equipping, and operating the vehicle, including the installation of the taxi meter, cameras, stickers, and implementing all necessary operational preparations, according to the technical recommendations provided by EAS.
The EAS is responsible for providing technical and specialised consultations related to the design and equipment of the sensory vehicle, and providing the ATA with standards and guidelines for appropriate sensory tools and means, in order to achieve a safe and comfortable transport environment.
The EAS reportedly contributes to preparing and providing training and guidance programmes for employees and drivers, to raise the level of awareness and skills necessary for optimal interaction with this category, which enhances service quality and provides a more inclusive transport experience tailored to their needs.
