As part of their strategic priority of proactive security, Abu Dhabi Police warned of the increasing activity of fake accounts on social media and digital platforms, along with fabricated text messages and electronic scams related to chalet and fake manors rental offers at attractive prices targeting families and members of society during holidays and tourist seasons.
They affirmed that they would continue to exert strenuous efforts to enhance security awareness among members of society by intensifying awareness and educational campaigns to prevent emerging methods of electronic fraud, especially fake advertisements and websites for booking chalets and resorts.
These campaigns are aimed at protecting the public from falling victim to fraudsters by urging them to verify the credibility of offers and advertisers and avoid any payments or financial transfers before ensuring they are reliable and approved through official channels.
Scammers resort to publishing attractive advertisements with prices lower than those prevailing in the market to lure victims and then ask them to transfer sums of money in advance as a deposit or insurance fee to confirm the booking before they close the means of communication and disappear, they said.
Abu Dhabi Police called on members of society to follow the awareness messages issued through their official channels and to immediately report any fraudulent attempts or suspicious electronic activities via Aman on 8002626, a text message to 2828, Abu Dhabi Police’s smart app. or [email protected].
