Sharjah Misdemeanor Court heard a case in which two Africans were accused of possessing alcoholic beverages for unlicensed sale after they had been caught in Abu Shagara.
The competent authorities were able to apprehend the accused in Abu Shagara with a number of bottles of alcoholic beverages in their possession.
This necessitated legal measures to be taken and the accused to be referred to court.
During the hearing, the defendants were faced with the charge of possessing and selling alcoholic beverages without a licence. One of the defendants admitted that the items belonging to him were for personal use and not for sale and were not in large quantities.
In contrast, the other defendant denied the charge levelled against him, pleading that the first defendant was his friend and he was only visiting him, denying any knowledge of or connection to the seized items.
After listening to the statements of the defendants and reviewing the case files, the court decided to postpone the hearing of the case to a later session to pronounce the verdict.
