In a continued effort to improve traffic safety and minimise accidents on the major roads, the Joint Committee for Traffic Safety has unveiled a new set of measures focused on speed reductions across three major roads in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This initiative is scheduled for implementation beginning on Feb.9, 2026, as part of a comprehensive plan designed to enhance safety for all road users.
The decision covered three specific locations in Abu Dhabi with updated speed limits as follows:
The first is the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road (E22), spanning from Al Nahda Interchange to Bani Yas Interchange in both directions, where the speed limit was lowered from 160km/h to 140km/h.
The second location extends from Bani Yas Interchange to just before the bridge complex, also in both directions, with the speed limit reduced from 140km/h to 120km/h.
The third location is Al Rawda Road (E30) in both directions, where the speed limit was decreased from 120km/h to 100km/h.
