The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport has specified the guidelines for obtaining permits to set up Ramadan tents in Abu Dhabi.
These permits enable companies to secure the approval needed to establish temporary tents for Iftar during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The department highlighted that the service is free of charge and does not require any additional documentation.
The process to acquire the permit is straightforward and involves logging in with a digital ID, submitting the application, and receiving authorisation to set up the Ramadan tent.
The department has outlined specific conditions to follow when setting up a tent.
These include permitting only one tent outside the plot's boundaries, ensuring the tent's area does not exceed 60 square meters, and limiting its maximum height to 5 meters.
The tent may be constructed using materials traditionally used for tents, such as wool, Bedouin fabrics, tarpaulins, and similar materials. It must be installed exclusively in front of the plot owner's residence, within the space between the plot and the sidewalk.
The installation should not obstruct street or sidewalk traffic or interfere with other services. Additionally, excavation work is prohibited, and the tent should not be placed over protruding service structures or annexes.
The department emphasised that the permit holder is accountable for any damage caused to public or private property during the installation or removal of the tent.
Installing the tent in an unauthorized location will be regarded as a violation of the permit conditions, subjecting the permit holder to legal actions taken by the Department of Municipalities and Transport.
Additionally, it was highlighted that the use of cooking equipment and charcoal is strictly prohibited, as well as any activities related to selling, buying, renting, or promotion.
The Municipality clarified that the department is entitled to demand the immediate removal of the tent under specific circumstances, such as emergencies, receipt of complaints, or any breaches of the conditions outlined in the permit.
Additionally, the permit holder agrees to exempt the Municipality from any claims or liabilities raised by governmental or non-governmental entities stemming from the use of this permit.
