A project to develop and rehabilitate Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road in Madinat Zayed was completed while the traffic signals were opened to traffic and a new traffic signal was established in front of the municipality building.
The traffic signal links the commercial district and Marabe Al Dhafra parks with the public park and the industrial area to speed up and ease traffic movement in all directions.
The improvement and rehabilitation work included adding a new 10-km long lane and eliminating two traffic signal intersections. Besides, acceleration and deceleration lanes were also added along the road entrances and exits to the new Madinat Zayed bus station were developed to provide priority for public transport and ensure pedestrian safety. This aimed to enhance the efficiency of asset management, infrastructure and public facilities with a view to making the emirate more attractive and raising the standard of living.
These improvements enhance the city’s urban integration and act as a catalyst for economic growth by serving major commercial centres and promoting environmentally friendly light transportation.
They also contribute to achieving the highest standards of environmental sustainability by applying global best practices in conserving natural resources and reducing energy consumption, thereby reflecting a commitment to the future vision of sustainable urban life.
