The United Arab Emirates welcomed the announcement by US President Donald Trump on efforts to end the war in Sudan, urging an "immediate and unconditional ceasefire."
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, "welcomed the statements of US President Donald Trump calling for an end to the horrific attacks perpetrated against civilians during the civil war, which has been ongoing for more than two years, as well as his leading the efforts to achieve stability in Sudan," in a call with chief US diplomat Marco Rubio, a ministry statement said.
Sheikh Abdullah initiated a phone call with Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, to discuss ongoing regional developments, as well as the strategic relations between the two countries.
Sheikh Abdullah and Rubio discussed the tragic developments of the civil war in Sudan, and reaffirmed the importance of achieving an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, and ensuring the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.
The UAE foreign minister welcomed the statements of Donald Trump calling for an end to the horrific atrocities committed against civilians during the civil war which has been ongoing for over two years. Sheikh Abdullah also welcomed the US President's leading efforts aimed at achieving stability in Sudan.
The two sides discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and developments related to the "Board of Peace," particularly following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2803, drafted by the US on Gaza. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of advancing efforts to support US President Trump's comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which aims to achieve security, stability, and sustainable prosperity for the peoples of the region.
Furthermore, Sheikh Abdullah and Rubio discussed the strategic relations between the UAE and United States, and ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
In this regard, Sheikh Abdullah noted that he was keen to initiate the call with Marco Rubio to convey his sincere gratitude and appreciation to US President Donald Trump for the recent decision announced by the White House authorising the export of advanced AI semiconductors to G42.
Sheikh Abdullah underscored that this decision reflects the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries, as well as the continued growth and development witnessed in bilateral ties across various fields.
