The UAE Ministry of Interior extradited two individuals wanted by the Belgian authorities to them after they were arrested by the Dubai and Sharjah police forces based on a red notice issued by the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL).
According to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, one of the suspects, who is one of the most wanted individuals in Belgium, is facing charges of cross-border drug trafficking and forming a dangerous gang.
The other suspect is charged with drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, as well as money laundering.
Their extradition followed a court ruling and the Ministry of Justice's decision to extradite them. This reaffirms the country's commitment to international legal procedures and to strengthening partnerships with international law enforcement entities in the fight against cross-border organised crime and the exchange of security expertise to enhance societal security.
