As part of their vision to create a safe traffic environment, the Sharjah Police are continuing their proactive efforts to improve the quality of life for all residents. The Central Region Police Department recently conducted an intensive field traffic campaign, resulting in the seizure of 100 illegally modified vehicles that were causing inconvenience to residents and threatening road safety. The campaign also resulted in the seizure of 40 motorcycles.
Brigadier Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajil, Director General of the General Department of Comprehensive Police Stations, emphasised that these campaigns form part of Sharjah Police's strategy to enhance public safety and reaffirm their commitment to protecting lives and property. He pointed out that the aim of these measures is not just to punish, but also to raise awareness and correct behaviours that harm society.
Brigadier Khalifa Al Khasouni, Director of the Central Region Department, explained that the campaign had targeted several locations across the Central Region. Fixed checkpoints and mobile patrols had been used to detect vehicles that had been modified illegally. He added that such initiatives help enhance residents' sense of security and reassurance.
The Sharjah Police have confirmed that unlicensed vehicle modifications, particularly those that cause noise, constitute violations that affect public comfort and endanger the safety of drivers and other road users. Drivers are advised to abide by the law and help maintain public safety and security by adopting positive practices that demonstrate their awareness of, and commitment to, improving the quality of life in the community.
