British TV star Jeremy Clarkson, the former presenter of Top Gear, has opened up about the possibility of leaving the UK, describing his country as a "nation doomed to collapse."
In an article for The Sunday Times, Clarkson (65) expressed frustration over a "bleak future filled with taxes, crime, and disease," pointing to economic stagnation, a frozen housing market, and weak police efficiency as reasons pushing him to consider emigration.
Clarkson, who faced a difficult year on his Cotswolds farm due to heatwaves and drought, also revealed that his farm would be closed for at least two months following an outbreak of bovine tuberculosis among his cattle. He described 2025 as "the worst year ever" for him.
Amid these challenges, Clarkson floated the idea of seeking "refuge" abroad, saying he is considering options including Dubai, some European countries, or Australia.
In his latest article, Clarkson highlighted three key advantages that made him consider Dubai as an alternative to Britain: a complete exemption from income tax, strikingly cheap fuel at about 50 pence per gallon, and an effective police force combined with year-round sunshine.
He added, "It’s easy to convince yourself that Britain has become a hopeless case, heading quickly toward a collapsed future," stressing that the idea of living in places like Dubai seems far more appealing amid the chaos in his homeland.
