The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai Airports, has launched the "Red Carpet" corridor at Dubai International Airport, a first-of-its-kind service globally.
This innovative system allows travellers to complete passport control procedures in just seconds, without the need to present any travel documents.
The smart corridor can process up to ten passengers simultaneously.
The corridor relies on artificial intelligence and biometric recognition systems.
Passenger data is pre-processed to verify identity, enabling seamless, uninterrupted passage.
Special cases are directed to manual review, ensuring the highest security standards.
Estimates indicate that the new corridor completes the passage process in 6 to 14 seconds per passenger, accommodating up to ten travellers at once.
This is a significant improvement over traditional methods, which process one passenger at a time, reducing wait times and enhancing the airport’s capacity.
The launch of the "Red Carpet" aligns with Dubai’s efforts to strengthen its global leadership in smart travel and reinforce Dubai International Airport’s position as the world’s busiest airport for international passengers for the 11th consecutive year.
