Abu Dhabi Primary Labour Court has ordered a company to pay Dhs274,266 in compensation to an employee who worked for the company for approximately 15 years but denied his end-of-service gratuity.
The employee filed a lawsuit against the company after submitting a complaint to the Labour Department at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The Labour Department was unable to resolve the dispute and referred the case to the court.
The employee demanded that the company pay him an end-of-service gratuity of Dhs358,236, along with covering legal fees and expenses.
The employee stated that he had an indefinite-term employment contract with the company from 2005 until 2024, with a basic monthly salary of Dhs21,000 and a total salary of Dhs45,000.
The court determined that the employee’s service period with the company was 14 years, 6 months, and 22 days, with a basic monthly salary of Dhs21,000.
Therefore, the court ruled that the employee is entitled to Dhs274,266 and ordered the company to pay him this amount.
