Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has called on all school bus operators in the emirate to fully prepare for the new academic year 2025-2026, ensuring the highest standards of service for students in line with the authority’s vision of becoming a global leader in seamless and sustainable mobility.
RTA stated it continuously monitors the daily operations of the school transport sector across all areas of the emirate, given its paramount importance to the nation’s leadership and to parents, particularly regarding safety and comfort on school buses.
It emphasises the need for advanced technologies to ensure the well-being of students during their daily commutes between home and school.
RTA, with the start of the new academic year, hopes that students in the emirate will return to their schools with enthusiasm, ready to embrace a new academic year filled with challenges and aspirations for a brighter future.
It affirms that it closely and continuously monitors compliance by schools and operators with the established procedures and requirements, adding that school bus operators and school administrations are obligated to ensure the safety of students and provide a secure and comfortable environment for them, as well as for supervisors and drivers.
For this, specialised RTA teams conduct inspection campaigns to verify operators’ adherence to school transport regulations and requirements.
Students are also urged to follow supervisors’ instructions when boarding and leaving buses, with supervisors ensuring students are safely accompanied to the nearest point to their homes.
RTA has directed school bus operators to instruct drivers to strictly comply with traffic laws, especially in areas surrounding schools, and to avoid obstructing the flow of other vehicles, to minimize traffic congestion and ensure smooth traffic movement at all times.
Additionally, RTA ensures that school transport operators provide intensive training for drivers and supervisors on safely and professionally handling students, so drivers have to be educated on their responsibilities regarding student safety during daily trips, emphasising safe driving practices.
