Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced a list of projects being carried out and inaugurated this month including 16 projects that span residential and educational areas and major traffic corridors across the emirate. These projects are part of RTA’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the efficiency of the road network, improve traffic flow and develop smart mobility services in line with Dubai’s vision for a more sustainable urban future.
The projects are part of an integrated development plan aimed at modernizing and expanding the road network through innovative engineering solutions that contribute to reducing traffic congestion, shortening daily travel times, improving the level of public safety on the roads and supporting efforts aimed at building an advanced transportation system based on efficiency and smart technologies, it said.
RTA began implementing its plan for August by opening two major projects, the first was the operation of a new tunnel within the Umm Suqeim Street development project, a vital project that contributes to strengthening the connection between residential and commercial areas. The second project was the opening of a new entrance in Al Awir 1 to ease entry and exit and improve connectivity with the surrounding road network.

During the same month, RTA continued carrying out three new traffic improvement projects. These included improvements near the American School of Dubai on the service road in the Al Safa area, development works to enhance traffic safety on Al Seedaf Street and the construction of a new free-turn lane to the right from Al Manama Street towards Al Meydan Street.
RTA will also embark on other development works including traffic adjustments around Al Mawakeb School in Al Garhoud, as part of improving the traffic environment in educational areas.
Other improvements will also be implemented on Al Bateel Street in Jumeirah, including the addition of an extra lane for a U-turn on Al Hadiqa Street for those coming from Al Meydan Street.
On August 21, RTA will embark on a project to construct new parking spaces dedicated to Nord Anglia International School in Al Barsha South, to ease vehicle movement during school peak hours and reduce congestion in the school’s vicinity.
On August 24, RTA will begin implementing a package of five concurrent projects including the addition of a new lane at the entrance to Dubai Silicon Oasis, traffic improvements in Al Qusais and an extra lane on Nad Al Hamar Street near Lootah Mosque towards Al Rebat Street.
They also include traffic improvements near the Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena, and additional traffic modifications near the North American International School in Al Mizhar. All these projects aim to enhance road efficiency in these vital areas and enhance traffic safety.
RTA concludes its plan for August on the 31st of the month by implementing two new projects, the first is the addition of a lane on Sheikh Zayed Road near Umm Al Sheif intersection, while the second project includes widening the right-hand turn from Al Mustaqbal Street towards the Financial Centre Street. These projects aim at enhancing traffic flow and easing vehicle movement in the heart of commercial areas.
Meanwhile, RTA started implementing a new 850-metre long lane for vehicles coming from Ras Al Khor Street towards Nad Al Hamar Interchange near Nasser Bin Lootah Mosque. The new lane is also being expanded to accommodate vehicles coming from Al Rabat Street, turning left towards Nad Al Hamar. This step comes as part of RTA’s efforts to meet the residents’ needs and aspirations and develop the road network on vital roads. These improvements will contribute to easing the pressure on traffic coming from Ras Al Khor and Al Rabat Streets towards Nad Al Hamar Interchange.
