The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil, and Administrative Cases Court has ordered two men to jointly pay a third man Dhs5,000, along with an additional Dhs2,000 as compensation for the material and moral damages he incurred. The court also held the two men responsible for the lawsuit’s fees and expenses after they embezzled money from the victim’s bank account using a fraudulent link.
Case details reveal that the victim saw an advertisement for food delivery from a restaurant and contacted them to place an order. The perpetrators reportedly asked him to pay Dhs11 via a link they sent. Upon opening the link, an amount of Dhs5,000 was deducted from his bank account.
The victim filed a complaint with the Bani Yas Public Prosecution, which issued a judgment in absentia convicting the suspects. Each was sentenced to three months in jail, fined Dhs20,000, and ordered to be deported. They were also required to cover court fees.
The defendants later filed objections, and the court amended the ruling, suspending the three-month prison sentence for three years from the date of execution. The amended judgment became final. The court upheld both the deportation order and the requirement to pay court fees.
According to case documents, the criminal judgment issued by the Bani Yas Public Prosecution conclusively established the defendants’ guilt. The court ordered them to jointly repay the victim Dhs5,000, the amount they embezzled, as per the criminal ruling, and to pay him an additional Dhs2,000 as compensation.
