His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday visited Al Suhub Rest House in Khorfakkan, which lies 600 metres above sea level.
Al Suhub Rest House is located in the heart of Khorfakkan city in the Eastern Region of the Emirate of Sharjah, which is distinguished by its mountainous environment surrounding it from all directions, its beautiful beaches and its historical and archaeological landmarks. These features helped the city win the award for the best Arab tourist city for 2023 as recently announced by the Arab Union for Tourism Media.
Al Suhub Rest House was designed on top of one of Khorfakkan mountains in the form of a circular building with a diameter of 30 meters, at a height of up to 600 meters above sea level, according to the best safety standards.
The rest house can be easily accessed through a 6.5-km long road that includes two ascending lanes and a descending lane and can be accessed by buses. The road was lit with 738 lighting poles and 48 parking poles and was reinforced with concrete barriers to protect road users.
The maximum speed on the road was set at 60 kilometers to provide the best safety standards for visitors.
