The Arab Reading Challenge, the world's largest Arabic-language reading event, was inaugurated during the 2015-2016 academic year under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The Challenge aims to promote the importance of reading among participating students in the Arab world and beyond, as well as to develop creative thinking skills.
The challenge is also oriented towards the generation of a substantial reading and knowledge movement and the consolidation of the cultural paradigm of reading in the Arabic language. A language that can keep pace with all forms of literature, science and knowledge. It encourages younger generations to use it in their daily lives, providing them with the knowledge they need to contribute to building a better future. It refines their abilities and personalities, enabling them to learn about other cultures and thus contributing to the consolidation of the principles of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others.
