Abu Dhabi Primary Labour Court ordered an employee to pay a company Dhs310,209.
The details date back to the time when a company filed a lawsuit against the employee, demanding he repay Dhs180,000 for resigning without notice, Dhs23,225 overpaid during one month of employment, Dhs105,325 remaining from a loan, Dhs3,883 for a laptop and Dhs423 for exceeding the allowed phone call limit.
The company also requested a 9% legal interest from the claim date until full payment, along with legal and attorney expenses fees.
The company stated the employee worked for about 11 months with a basic salary of Dhs49,000 and a total salary of Dhs90,000 but he resigned without settling his dues.
The judge appointed an accounting expert from the Abu Dhabi Judiciary to investigate the case.
The expert’s report confirmed that the company overpaid the employee Dhs23,225 for one month, the remaining loan amount due was Dhs121,825 and Dhs3,883 as the laptop’s value, as per the invoice.
The court ruled that the employee resigned without providing the required notice under the law, so he was ordered to pay the company a total of Dhs310,209.
