Dubai Misdemeanour Court fined an Asian maid Dhs3,000 after proving her negligence and failure to take necessary precautions to prevent a potential danger from a dog in her care, which attacked a child.
The mother of the child filed a report stating that she resided in the Emirates Hills area and her 14-year-old son left the house, but upon entering the elevator, he was attacked by a dog inside, resulting in an injury to his right leg, so he was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The child’s mother noted that the dog was with the maid, who failed to take precautions to avoid the danger posed by the dog, leading to the attack on her son and his injury.
During interrogation, the suspect denied the negligence charge, adding that the dog belonged to the homeowner, where she has been working as a maid for three months. She added that on the day of the incident, she was with the dog in front of the elevator on the sixth floor of the building, holding a leash tied to it but when the elevator door opened, the dog suddenly jumped inside and attacked the victim, causing his injury, so she immediately returned the dog to the apartment.
