An inspection campaign carried out by the Ports Police Station of Dubai Police detected administrative violations by some companies, including the absence of electronic documentation or unclear rental procedures.
Immediate warnings were issued to these companies, and detailed observations were documented for submission to the relevant licensing and legal authorities, according to Brigadier Dr. Hassan Suhail Al-Suwaihi, Director of the Ports Police Station.
Additionally, 32 jet skis were impounded due to severe damage, involvement in previous accidents, or being unfit for operation, while other 39 jet skis and marine vessels were fined for safety violations or deviating from designated operating routes.
Brigadier Al-Suwaihi emphasised that the fine for using an unlicensed or unauthorised marine vessel in the emirate’s waters is Dhs5,000, and using a vessel after its licence has expired and not renewing it incurs a fine of Dhs1,000. The fine for a business renting an unfit marine vessel is Dhs5,000, and obstructing or preventing inspectors from performing their duties incurs a fine of Dhs5,000.
Brigadier Al-Suwaihi called on all jet ski rental offices to regularly inspect the condition of jet skis and marine equipment before use, ensure safety and security measures are in place before and after rentals, and adhere to clear and transparent rental contract terms.
