Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, honoured an 8-year-old Egyptian girl, Lily Jamal Ramadan, for her honesty.
Lily found Dhs17,000 in the lobby of a cinema in a shopping mall and handed it over to Al Rashidiya Police Station with her family.
Al Mansouri praised the girl’s good behaviour and honesty, stressing that raising children to be honest is extremely important and has a positive impact on the society as a whole.
"Honouring the girl in the presence of her family is part of Dubai Police’s strategy to promote positive role models in society, he said.
Major General Saeed Hamad Al Malik, Director of Al Rashidiya Police Station, said the girl went to the cinema with her parents and sat on a seat until they completed booking their tickets.
The girl found the money on the seat and took it to her father, who was surprised, he added, noting that the girl and her parents headed immediately to Al Rashidiya Police Station to hand it over.
Al Malik pointed out that at the same time, the owner of the money happened to be at the mall to report it missing and was surprised to find it there.
