Dubai Public Prosecution shared a story on its Instagram platform, using the pseudonym "Reema" for a 13-year-old girl, to highlight the dangers of allowing children to use electric bicycles without adult supervision.
Reema allegedly left her home on Friday in a hurry, without her parents' knowledge, after agreeing to meet her friend Rawda to play in a nearby park.
She met Rawda on the street, and headed to the park, crossing a main road.
Reema rode her bicycle at high speed, ignoring the pedestrian crossing, which led to a collision with a car in the second lane.
The driver, who did not notice Reema stopped immediately, and Reema fell to the ground in pain.
The driver rushed to help her and called an ambulance, which arrived promptly. The girl sustained only minor injuries without any serious harm.
Security authorities launched an investigation into the incident, revealing that Reema was riding the bicycle unsafely and in violation of traffic rules.
The Public Prosecution held Reema's father responsible, charging him with negligence and endangering a child's life.
Reema herself was also considered a suspect in the traffic accident, and her case was referred to the Family and Juvenile Prosecution.
The Public Prosecution emphasised that Rima's story is part of a series of real-life narratives published under the slogan "A Lesson and a Moral," shedding light on seemingly minor mistakes that carry significant legal and humanitarian consequences.
It urged parents to exercise greater caution and daily supervision of their children.
