A clear weather in general is expected to prevail on Saturday through Monday, while the weather will be partly cloudy and dusty at times with a drop in temperature in the west, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
May is considered as a month of the first transitional period (spring) between winter and summer, the NCM said, adding that during this month, the sun continues to move apparently north of the equator, as the day gradually lengthens in the northern hemisphere. This in turn leads to a gradual rise in temperature in most parts of the country during this month, it said.
The NCM stated that the maximum temperature during the current week would range between 32 and 46 degrees Celsius and the minimum between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds would blow at 10 to 25 and up to 35 km/h, while the sea would have regular Waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, it added.

Tuesday’s weather is expected to be clear to partly cloudy and dusty at times with a drop in temperature in the west. Light to moderate southeasterly to northwesterly winds will blow, turning to active and dust-stirring at times at 10 to 25 and up to 40 km/h, while the sea will have regular to moderate waves but will become gradually rough in the afternoon in the Arabian Gulf compared to regular to moderate waves in the Sea of Oman.
Meanwhile, the NCM explained that the humidity level in the air is slightly lower during May compared to April, especially during the second half of the month, although chances of fog and light fog forming in separate areas remain, especially during the first half of the month, but its frequency will be less during the second half.
The average temperature during May ranges between 30.6 and 33.6 degrees Celsius, with the average maximum temperature ranging between 37.3 and 40.9 degrees Celsius and the minimum between 24.3 and 26.8 degrees Celsius, it said.
The highest temperature of 50.2 degrees Celsius was recorded in Umm Al Zamoul and Fujairah Airport in 2009 and the lowest of 9 degrees Celsius on Jebel Jais in 2005, it added.
The NCM indicated that the average wind speed during May is 13 km/h and the highest wind speed of 117.2 km/h was recorded in Jabal Mebrah in 2010. The average relative humidity during this month is 39 per cent with the average maximum relative humidity being between 54 per cent and 82 per cent and the average minimum relative humidity being between 14 per cent and 24 per cent, it added.
The highest occurrence of fog in recent years was recorded in 2021, when the number of fog occurrences was 10 days of fog and 4 days of light fog, it said, adding that the highest amount of rain recorded during this month was 134.4 mm on Filli in 1981.
