The Misdemeanour and Violations Court in Dubai sentenced two Asians nationals to one month in jail and fined them jointly Dhs211,000 for stealing 48 mobile phones.
The suspects allegedly deceived the owner of an electronics trading company by telling him that buyers are interested in purchasing the phones.
The case dates back to August 2024, when a salesperson filed a report stating that he had been defrauded and 48 mobile phones were stolen by the suspects.
The complainant explained that the owner of the company he worked for instructed him to deliver the phones to a building in Naif area to hand them over and collect Dhs211,000, their total value.
Upon arrival, the first suspect was waiting and introduced the second suspect as the buyer, so the complainant handed over the phones, and the second suspect claimed that the payment was in his nearby office.
He asked the complainant to accompany him to place the phones in the office and give him the money.
The complainant added that when the second suspect delayed, he asked the first about the reason, and he told him that his partner had fled with the phones.
The first suspect then attempted to escape, but the complainant caught him, contacted the company owner who headed to the place and reported the incident to the police.
