Ras Al Khaimah Police seized 18.5 tonnes of firecrackers after nabbing a person who was offering them for sale inside a small house in the emirate.

Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, warned of the dangers of using and trading in crackers and fireworks during Ramadan and the two Eids, as they pose a threat to people’s lives and property, especially children, who don't know how to deal safely with them.

The firecrackers were seized and the dealer was nabbed in a joint operation by the Criminal Investigation Department in co-operation with the General Department of Weapons and Explosives at the Ministry of Interior, Special Tasks Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police and the Ma’moura Comprehensive Police Station.

Ras Al Khaimah Police explained that the Criminal Investigation Department received earlier a tip-off that a person was promoting and selling firecrackers in a small house in the emirate.

After making sure that the information received was accurate and taking legal measures, a working team was formed to monitor the suspect. It turned out that the suspect was storing large quantities of firecrackers in a farm behind his house for illegal trade.

Later, the team raided the house where the suspect was arrested red-handed and the firecrackers were seized in his possession.
