Man and woman killed in a car crash due to excessive speed in Dubai

A man and woman were killed in a road accident late on Tuesday at 11:55 pm in Al Khawaneej area, Dubai. The sports car that they were on reportedly fell off Etihad Mall Bridge after the driver lost control on the vehicle due to the excessive speed.
Major General Saif Muheir Al Mazrouei, Director of General Director of Traffic at the Dubai Police explained that the car sharply swerved when it reached curve of the bridge and the driver lost control due to the excessive speed.
The vehicle violently crashed into the sidewalk and then jumped the concrete barrier, before it fell off the bridge down to road, he added.
Al Mazrouei also said that the car, as a result of excessive speed, continued its rush on the road in the opposite direction until it settled on the island in the middle of the road, before it caught fire, causing death of the driver and a woman who was accompanying him.
Experts of the inspection section moved from the Traffic Accidents Department to the accident scene to collect evidence to find out the reasons that led to its occurrence, Al Mazrouei added.
In the meantime, traffic patrols organized traffic, cordoned the scene, and facilitated the arrival of ambulances and rescue vehicles to carry out their tasks and take the necessary measures, he added
