The UAE has issued decision to adopt remote working for federal government employees, distance learning for public schools on Friday 27 October due to unstable weather conditions.

According to the Federal Cabinet's directions, it was decided that Friday, 27th October, will be remote work for all federal government employees, with the exception of jobs that require presence at the workplace.

It was also decided that all government schools will conduct distance learning, taking into account the weather condition currently prevailing in the country.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) calls on private sector companies across the UAE to apply flexible work patterns tomorrow (Friday, 27 October) given the current weather conditions.

“Necessary measures need to be taken by companies to ensure outdoor work, which is necessary to resume, complies with the occupational health and safety requirements,” the Ministry said in a statement.

“Companies also need to ensure the health and safety of workers commuting to and from outdoor work locations.”

Heavy rain with lightning, thunder and hail lashed various areas of the UAE on Thursday. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) the unstable weather condition in the country is likely to end on Friday.

NCM said that the country is being affected by an extension of a surface depression coinciding with an upper air trough of low pressure from the west, with a relatively humid cold air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere, which causes the formation of cumulus clouds accompanied by rains, according to NCM.
